Thank you to everyone who came out to the Whitecaps game for our fundraiser!  Hope you had a great time!

Thank you SO much to everyone who came out and golfed in our 2nd Annual Outing.  We hope you all had a wonderful time regardless of the less than perfect weather that came our way.  We had a GREAT time and cannot thank everyone enough for all of their support.  We are already looking forward to next year! =]

This past weekend, the Laker Dance Team traveled to Louisville, KY to take part in a 3 day collegiate dance camp.  While at camp, the girls bonded as a team as well as strove to dance more as a team.  More than half of the team is made up of new members, so this has been a very difficult task.

The ladies of the Laker Dance Team worked extremely hard and had many late nights of practicing, but the sleepless nights and  every sore muscle was worth it all!

Grand Valley took 1st place in Divisions 1 & 2 in Louisville!  They also received a Gold Paid Bid to Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL in April!

5 Team members were also named All-American.  They were: Jessie Dluzynski, Lauren Gilfillan, Karly Dierkes, Kelly Kerastas & Marissa Capistrant!

We had a great weekend together.  Dancing with the clinic attendees was very fun and the trip to Traverse City was new for the Laker Dance Team and we were very welcomed by all who were there watching the parade.  Sunday we soaked up some rays while washing cars to raise money for Nationals.

We have NDA Summer Dance Camp quickly approaching from August 1st-3rd in Louisville, KY and we are looking to work extremely hard!  We will be sure to let you know how we do!

We also have our 2nd Annual Golf Outing coming up on August 22nd.  We need to have your registrations by August 8th, so please contact us if you would like to participate!  We would love to see you there!

Beginning this Friday, July 10th, the Laker Dance team will kick off a very action-packed weekend together.

On Friday, the girls will be hosting a youth dance clinic for boys and girls from 2nd-8th grades.  The event will take place on the Allendale Campus in the Laker Turf Building from 12:00-4:00.  If you are still interested in participating in the clinic, registrations are being accepted on site!  The clinic costs $25.00 per participant and includes 4 fun hours of instruction from the GVSU Dance Team as well as a t-shirt!  If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail the team at: lakerdanceteam@hotmail.com

On Saturday, the team will venture up to Traverse City for the Cherry Festival!  They will be walking in the parade along with the GVSU Cheer teams and pep band! The parade begins at 11:15 for anyone who will be in the area and wants to check it out!

Sunday, July 12th will wrap up the dance team weekend with a car wash at the Allendale Walgreens on Lk. Michigan and 68th Ave. from 11am-4pm!  Come get your car washed for a donation to help the team travel to Daytona Beach, FL in April for the National Dance Alliance Competition!

We would like to thank everyone for attending the 2009-2010 Laker Dance Team tryouts! There was a lot of talent this year and everyone did wonderful! The selection process was difficult with very close scoring, so if you were not selected this year we encourage you to come out next year and tryout again. We have decided to select 16 girls for the performance team for experience purposes, but we will only be buying 14 tickets to the National Dance Alliance Competition in April, so everyone work hard this season!

Congratulations, Grand Valley Laker Dance Team took 5th place in Daytona Florida.  The team worked hard to achieve this and are very proud.

2008 - 2009 Laker Dance Team

The Grand Valley State University Laker Dance Team will be holding tryouts for the 2009-2010 season.

The Laker Dance Team is a group of athletic women who perform during the men’s home football and basketball games. The team also makes many special appearances throughout the year and competes nationally at the NDA Collegiate Dance Competition in Daytona Beach, Florida.

We danced are way through our last game of the season.  (Regular season that is.)  We expect to be in playoffs so look for us then or on the basketball court.

This game was for Breast Cancer awareness.  Everyone was decorated up in pink to help support this event.

We just returned from NDA Camp this weekend, held in Lousiville, KY.  We had a great time and really enjoyed bonding with each other. We worked very hard and brought home a first place trophy!

We made some minor upgrades to our website.  Bassically the hardware that runs it has been replaced.  We might have lost some of our data and links to how you were use to seeing them.  For the most part it’s fixed and all the features should be returning shortly.

Also if you have a mobile phone or IPHONE you should be able to read the Dance Team’s website in a easier to read format for smaller browsers.

It’s been awhile since we posted any updates. So, we have some catching up to do.
First of all, we would have performed last week, but because of other half time events, we were cutt.
Second, remember to keep an eye out for updated pictures in our gallery. We always get new photos up after every game.

Next Thursday 21st, we will be performing on of our dances that we will be competing with in Nationals. We’re ready to show it off for you. We put a lot of time and preperation into Nationals and were happy to get to share some of our work with you.

Another week, another victory for the Lakers, and what a sweet victory it was beating Ferris State.

The GVSU Dance moved to the beat on the Basket Ball Court Tuesday Evening to help cheer the team onto another victory. We have new pictures up showing from that game too.

Homecoming brought about another victory for the Lakers. Your Laker Dance Team moved to the beat of victory. Along the way they ran into a few alumni.

There was a great showing at the first home game this year. Were glad to see so many fans could make it out on a Thursday night.

Homecoming was great this year. The fans were great, GVSU won, but there was one slight problem. The rain. We we all know that it’s Michigan and we can’t get perfect weather all the time, but we made the best of it and still had a great performace between the rain drops.

Another homecoming weekend is coming up this Saturday. Students, be sure to get to the game early if you want good seats. The student section will be limited to 2,900 seats.

We look forward to seeing all you fans there.

Family Day is this upcoming weekend. Grand Valley will be taking on Mercyhurst . The game time is at 7pm. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Tonight, September 21, 2006, the Lakers will be taking on MTU on national TV. The Laker Dance Team will be there to cheer them on.
